À Châtillon-sur-Seine, la place de la Ville-du-Puy a été entièrement refaite et transformée dans le cadre du chantier de rénovation complète et de modernisation du centre-ville (lire par ailleurs). Samedi, en fin de matinée, il y avait du monde pour l’inauguration de cette place qui est l’un des endroits les plus jolis de la ville avec les quais de la Seine, la vue sur l’église Saint-Vorles et le pont du Perthuis-Au-Loup – deux sites éclairés dès la tombée de la nuit.

On ne le sait pas toujours, mais cette place, ou sa dénomination plutôt, fait référence à une page de l’histoire de la ville. Alors son inauguration fut l’occasion de le souligner.

1940 : une année terrible pour Châtillon

« Il y a 84 ans aujourd’hui, le 15 juin 1940, deux bombardements ont touché Châtillon-sur-Seine. Une grande partie du centre-ville a été détruite et cela a fait de nombreux morts. S’en sont suivies des années difficiles pour les Châtillonnais », a rappelé Roland Lemaire, maire de Châtillon-sur-Seine.
